"Empowering Educators → Inspiring Students →

Transforming Educational Outcomes"

NBPC’s 2027 theme, “Empowering Educators, Inspiring Students, and Transforming Education,” reflects a unified vision of strengthening the entire educational ecosystem—starting with teachers and extending to student success and systemic impact.

At its core, the theme emphasizes that when educators are equipped with research-based strategies, collaborative learning opportunities, and effective instructional practices, they gain the confidence and capacity to elevate their teaching.

This empowerment directly leads to inspired students—learners who are more engaged, confident, and capable of achieving both academically and linguistically. As educators implement best practices and innovative approaches, students experience meaningful learning that fosters growth, voice, and achievement.

Ultimately, this cycle drives the larger goal of transforming education—breaking down traditional silos, promoting collaboration across programs, and creating equitable, high-quality learning environments for all students.

Superintendent Leadership Symposium

When educational leaders come together with purpose, they do more than lead systems—they help shape the future of education.

The Superintendent Leadership Symposium is a superintendent-led community of visionary, forward-thinking educational leaders committed to shaping the future of education through authentic learning, strategic innovation, and purposeful leadership. It is designed as an intentional space where superintendents, district leaders, and aspiring superintendents come together to engage in meaningful dialogue, strengthen leadership capacity, and contribute to the continued advancement of educational systems.

At its core, the Symposium recognizes that strong school systems begin with strong leadership. Superintendents and district leaders carry the responsibility of setting the vision, creating the conditions for instructional success, and ensuring that campuses are equipped to meet the evolving academic, linguistic, social, and organizational needs of students. The Superintendent Leadership Symposium provides a dedicated forum for leaders to step away from the demands of daily operations and focus on the bigger picture—how to lead districts with clarity, purpose, and impact.

This Symposium offers more than professional learning; it offers a community of leadership. Participants have the opportunity to learn from experienced experts, collaborate with peers who understand the complexities of district-level leadership, and engage in conversations that challenge thinking while affirming the importance of courageous, student-centered decision-making. Through these interactions, leaders gain valuable insights, practical strategies, and renewed inspiration to strengthen their districts and campuses.

A key purpose of the Superintendent Leadership Symposium is to foster collaboration among leaders who are not only managing systems, but transforming them. Educational progress does not happen in isolation. It requires leaders who are willing to share ideas, examine challenges, explore innovative solutions, and contribute to the broader educational field. By being present and actively participating, superintendents and district leaders help shape conversations that influence practice, inspire innovation, and elevate educational opportunities for students and staff alike.

The Symposium also serves as an important leadership development space for aspiring superintendents and emerging district leaders. It creates opportunities for those preparing for higher levels of leadership to learn from seasoned superintendents, deepen their understanding of district leadership, and build the confidence and capacity necessary to lead with excellence. In this way, the Symposium not only supports current leaders, but also invests in the next generation of educational leadership.

Benefits of Attending

Being of attending the Superintendent Leadership Symposium allows leaders to:

  • engage in high-level conversations centered on authentic learning and district advancement

  • gain insight from experts and experienced educational leaders

  • collaborate with visionary peers committed to educational excellence

  • explore innovative ideas that can strengthen district systems and campus support

  • reflect on leadership practices that impact students, staff, and school communities

  • build connections that foster ongoing support, partnership, and professional growth

  • strengthen leadership capacity for current roles and future opportunities

Most importantly, participation in the Superintendent Leadership Symposium demonstrates a commitment to contributing to the educational field in meaningful ways. Leaders who are present are not only investing in their own growth, but also in the future of their districts, their leadership teams, and the students they serve.

The Superintendent Leadership Symposium stands as a space where educational leadership is elevated, collaboration is valued, and the work of transforming education is advanced through the collective wisdom and commitment of those called to lead.

Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders

The NBPC Student Leadership Strand is a unique learning experience created to invest in students as future leaders, educators, professionals, and advocates. This strand is designed to give students the opportunity to attend a professional conference environment where they can build confidence, strengthen communication skills, expand their leadership capacity, and engage in meaningful learning alongside other motivated students.

The Student Leadership Strand is especially valuable for districts seeking opportunities for students in programs such as Ready, Set, Teach, education pathways, bilingual/newcomer programs, college and career readiness initiatives, and other student leadership groups. Students participate in a day intentionally designed to inspire them, challenge their thinking, and help them see their potential to make an impact in school, future professions, and their communities.

At NBPC, students are not just invited to attend—they are intentionally included in an experience that helps them see themselves as leaders.

What Is the Student Leadership Strand?

The Student Leadership Strand is a specially designed strand within the National Best Practices Conference that provides high school students with a meaningful conference experience centered on leadership development, student voice, college and career inspiration, communication, and personal growth.

Students come together in a unified setting to learn, connect, and participate in sessions that help them:

  • develop leadership skills

  • strengthen self-confidence and public speaking

  • explore future college and career pathways

  • build motivation and purpose

  • learn from inspiring speakers and presenters

  • connect with students from other districts and backgrounds

This strand creates a professional and uplifting environment where students are encouraged to think beyond their current circumstances and recognize the power of their voice, talents, and future contributions.

How Do Students Benefit by Attending?

Attending the NBPC Student Leadership Strand gives students an opportunity to grow academically, socially, and personally. The experience is designed to leave students encouraged, empowered, and better prepared for future success.

Students benefit by:

Building leadership capacity
Students engage in learning that helps them understand what it means to lead with confidence, responsibility, and purpose.

Increasing motivation and self-belief
The strand helps students see that their background does not limit their future. They leave with a stronger sense of direction and possibility.

Strengthening communication skills
Students participate in experiences that support speaking, listening, collaboration, and professional interaction.

Expanding college and career awareness
The strand exposes students to future opportunities and helps them begin thinking more intentionally about college, careers, and service.

Developing a sense of belonging and connection
Students have the opportunity to learn alongside peers from other schools and districts, helping them feel part of something bigger.

Growing as representatives of their schools and communities
Students return to campus with new ideas, increased confidence, and a greater readiness to lead.

For many students, this experience is more than a conference day—it is a moment that helps them envision a larger future for themselves.

Why Districts Should Bring Students

Districts that bring students to the Student Leadership Strand are making a direct investment in student growth and future success. This experience supports district goals related to student achievement, leadership development, college and career readiness, student engagement, and equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities.

The strand is particularly meaningful for districts that want to provide enriching experiences for students who may not otherwise have access to professional learning spaces, leadership conferences, or college and career exposure outside of the school setting.

By attending NBPC, students experience a professional environment that communicates a powerful message:

You belong here. Your future matters. Your leadership is needed.

Funding Student Attendance

Districts may be able to use a variety of local, state, and federal funds to support student registration for the NBPC Student Leadership Strand, depending on district priorities and program guidelines.

Potential funding sources may include:

Title I

Title I funds may support opportunities that increase student academic engagement, motivation, leadership development, and access to enriched learning experiences—especially for students from low-income backgrounds.

Title II

Title II may be used in some cases when student participation is connected to broader district initiatives that strengthen educator pipelines, leadership development, or instructional support programs tied to future teaching and learning.

Title III

For districts serving Emergent Bilingual students, Title III funds may support opportunities that enhance student academic language, leadership development, engagement, and educational access, particularly when the experience strengthens student growth and participation.

CTE / Career Pathway Funds

Districts with Education and Training programs, Ready, Set, Teach pathways, or other college and career readiness initiatives may find that student leadership conference participation aligns with pathway goals and workforce development efforts.

College, Career, and Military Readiness Funds

Student participation may also align with district goals connected to CCMR indicators, student leadership, postsecondary readiness, and future planning.

Campus or District Enrichment Funds

Some districts may use campus activity funds, student leadership funds, special program funds, or local professional learning/enrichment budgets to support participation.

Please note: Funding decisions should always be reviewed by the district’s business office or federal programs department to ensure alignment with local policies and grant requirements.

A Meaningful Investment in Students

The NBPC Student Leadership Strand is more than an event—it is an investment in students’ confidence, leadership, and future. Districts that choose to bring students are providing them with an experience that can inspire long-term academic, personal, and professional growth.

When students are given opportunities to learn in spaces that elevate their potential, they begin to see themselves differently. They return with greater confidence, stronger aspirations, and a deeper belief that they can make a difference.
