About NBPC

The National Best Practices Conference is a convergence of "Best Instructional Practices," welcoming educators from diverse educational programs—Bilingual, ESL, Gifted and Talented, Special Education, Core Content, Early Childhood, and Technology—across various grade levels and subject matters.

This unique event is an opportunity for teachers, administrators, and support staff to unite and discover effective strategies not only within their specific programs but also through cross-pollination of ideas among different educational domains.

Gone are the days of educational "silos." Instead, this conference fosters a collaborative environment where practitioners come together to explore innovative ways of meeting the diverse academic and linguistic needs of our students. It's a platform where specialized expertise converges, offering insights and practical solutions that enrich the educational landscape for all.

Conference Philosophy

We believe in uniting educators in a single space, empowering them to discover the most effective ways to address their students' academic and linguistic requirements.

Our Story

The National Best Practices Conference (NBPC) was founded in 2019 by Dr. Richard Gómez Jr. and Dr. Rosie Sandoval with a clear and purposeful vision: to create a professional learning space that would address the gaps in instructional support for educators across all educational settings.

NBPC was established in response to a growing need in education—teachers and instructional staff needed greater access to high-quality, research-based instructional strategies that could truly impact student success. Too often, professional development opportunities were limited to specific programs, departments, or content areas, leaving many educators without the practical tools and cross-disciplinary strategies needed to meet the diverse academic and linguistic needs of today’s students.

Dr. Gómez and Dr. Sandoval believed that all educators, regardless of their role or program, should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and strengthen their practice through meaningful professional development. They recognized that student success is not the responsibility of one department alone. It requires a collective commitment from educators across bilingual education, ESL, general education, special education, gifted and talented, early childhood, core content, instructional support services, and leadership to work together in providing students with the strongest possible educational experiences.

From its beginning, NBPC was designed to break down the silos that often exist in education and instead create a conference where educators from multiple backgrounds can come together around one common purpose: transforming education through best instructional practices that support the academic and linguistic development of all students.

What makes NBPC unique is its commitment to serving the full educational community. The conference highlights strategies and practices that are not confined to one classroom, grade level, or specialty area, but instead can be adapted and applied across a variety of educational contexts. This approach allows educators to see the value of learning from one another and understand how strong instructional practices can “bridge” across programs to better serve students.

At its core, NBPC was built on the belief that when educators are equipped with effective strategies, students benefit. When teachers, instructional staff, and leaders are empowered with practical tools and renewed inspiration, they are better positioned to create classrooms and schools where students can thrive academically, linguistically, socially, and professionally.

Since its founding, NBPC has continued to grow as a community of educators committed to excellence, collaboration, and student-centered impact. The conference remains rooted in the founding vision of Dr. Richard Gómez Jr. and Dr. Rosie Sandoval: to provide an inclusive professional learning experience that helps educators from all fields strengthen their craft and ultimately improve outcomes for all students.

NBPC is more than a conference—it is a movement to empower educators, inspire students, and transform education through the power of best practices.
